Claims to be Children's Cancer Recovery Fund from Mesa, Arizona. There is no such organization listed on GuideStar, which lists all IRS registered nonprofit organizations. Do not send any "nonprofit", unless they are registered.
They are using artificial intelligence callers; they are not real people. Ask the caller a strange question, and see what happens. I was able to speak with a manager after asking the computer several times, and he claimed she was in training, until I told him that was untrue and told him they were using AI. He then changed his story and said the person running the system was in training.
My opinion: they is a scam. If the organization is registered on GuideStar, it is likely to be real. Certifications rarely mean anything. Be careful.
I don't know if they are trying to rob people or what the deal is, but they ask to speak to "the head of the household". I am a woman and when I say "you're speaking with her", they hang up. The way the world is today, I feel like they are targeting women who are single or live alone. Or it could be I watch the news too much. At either rate, it is quite disturbing to get these calls.
