Received a phone call(my caller ID read "1040")from a guy with a foreign accent who claimed to be from the "Dept of Federal Grants". He stated that I was selected to receive a no strings $9,000 grant, the only stipulation being it not being used for anything illegal(the irony). He asked me to confirm my name, how old I was and weather or not I was employed. He then gave me a number to call(the number Im reporting)where I was to confirm/be instructed on how to collect from someone else(dont remember if he said supervisor or something else). He also gave me a confirmation number. This is obviously a scam, I only played along to see how sophisticated/ridiculous the scam would be. If you get a strange call either from a (202)684....number or are told to call that number back it IS A SCAM. If you lookup this number on phonenumber(dot)com, theres a huge list of numbers reported as a scam from #'s beginning with (202)684.....
Yesterday, I tried to get a health care quote online. Immediately after submitting my information to the website (a phone number was required for the quote), I started receiving phone calls from this number. Today, I have received phone calls from this number every hour since 8:05am. Whoever is calling from this number has never left me a message to identify him/herself.
very weird ... claimed they represent Microsoft and that my license had expired ... what license? Offered 1,2,3 year and lifetime plans starting at $199 ... wouldn't tell me the name of his company
This is a scam with a man telling the caller they had been interested in furthering their education. When I told him I already have my degree, he hung up abruptly! This number seems to originate from Chilton, WI.
Am trying to find out if the person who requested on line information has given me the correct return number. His email was bogus so wanted to see if the number is as well before I call.
suspecting a telemarketer, I didn't say anything and after a short silence a recording came on that said SAI and gave a business phone number that was different than the calling number. It then said good-bye and disconnected. I now have the # blocked.
Caller ID shows U.S Cellular; I contacted them and they said this is not their number. Last time I got this call, there was a man with an accent telling me I had computer errors. I asked him if he could speak English because I couldn't understand him worth a damn. He said he was speaking English; I told him not well enough to talk on the phone, to learn English and call me back! He went into a rage, calling me all kinds of names and almost blew a fuse! I quietly hung up on him--------
Used foul racial slur language and threaten who called this number if they ever dialed it again. Unfortunately it was a misdial from my purse but language was loud and clear so that i heard my phone had dialed this number. The man hung up before i could say that i apologize for my phone dialing this number asvi was searching. thru my purse. The language and threats were quite unnerving.
my cellphone was stolen and he apparently found it and was tracing it so he wanted to scamm N$3000 from me. trying to find out the company he works for
This person called my new number only 10 minutes after having it hooked up. There are companies on the internet who will hack your phone for free. This is the scary part. They said "I'm baaack"
