This number (202-455-8888) is legit. It called me to provide a verification code, while I was signing-in to a Customer-Service Review-Request, from a local merchant that I had visited a day earlier.
However, my phone lists it as a mobile number, while phonelookup.com lists it as a landline. Confused yet? Yeah, me too. That is all I know.

Keep getting calls from different numbers. First a pre-recorded message says it's Soc. Sec. and an arrest warrant has been issued (how do they know who answered the phone). I've pressed 1 to talk to agents. When questioned, they hang up. They wanted to know who they were talking to. A gal told me she didn't call me. Technically that is correct, an automated machine called me. At any rate, don't give them any info. Don't even talk to an agent. The message says it's in regards to fraud. I wish something could be done to stop this type of stuff! When they don't get what they want from me, they hang up. You usually hear lots of people on phones in the background and agent has a strong accent.

On February 3rd, I received a text from the above number and all it said was: "This is Steven" I didn't bother to reply. Since I'm close to Medicare age, I figure it was someone just trying to sell me Medicare Supplemental insurance.
The caller ID claimed that the number was from ATT, however when you answer, your voice plays back in a loop and no one is on the other end.n It sounds like your voice is being recorded and replayed. After looking, the number isn't from ATT.

Lady called up asking to speak to the last name of the last name company I work for.
I asked her which of the last names she would like to speak with.
She was super rude, A LOT of attitude to get to one of them. Obviously trying to sell something or some service and not doing a very good job I guess because a woman answered the phone.
Person called knew my name but wanted me to verify birth date and of course I did not because they wouldn't tell me their business they were calling on behalf.
However, my phone lists it as a mobile number, while phonelookup.com lists it as a landline. Confused yet? Yeah, me too. That is all I know.
