i haven't answered it yet either, but calls me about 2 times a week and never leaves a message...if it was important, they would leave a message. grrrrrrr
When tried calling the number was directed that the number was no longer in service. Received a text at 10:59 p.m. and called the next day at 8:30 a.m. Collector or scammer?
When I answered an automated voice said goodbye. When I called back the message said it was WN Division - a job placement firm... asked to have me input my phone number to have it removed.
The male who used this number claimed to be from Publisher's Clearinghouse calling to inform me that I had won a large cash prize and a new car. I was suspicious to start with and when he asked form my age and I asked why he needed that information he gave an evasive answer. When I didn't give him a direct answer, the caller hung up. I used this website to reverse search the number and it came up with a cell phone originating from Kinston, JM.
I don't know who this is, but I received a text message from this number on 2/19/13 reading:
HaHa Pat [shortened URL omitted]
I used longurl.org to expand the URL without viewing it (just in case it was a malicious site), and it was one of those "Mom earns $7k a month sitting on her ass at home" scams.
I'm in MI, and this number is registered from Louisville, KY. I don't know anyone there. My cell number is public for business purposes, so anyone could have gotten it. But whoever this is is using first names to make it seem like it's someone you know (and therefore more likely to click the link), and then obfuscating the URL so you don't know where you're going.
The owner of this phone number is a hacker who takes down websites and says to contact him to have it put back up, then extorts the victims for cash in order to have it restored.
This number has been calling for months. If I answer, they hang up. If I let the call go to voicemail, they don't leave a message. Similar reports on other sites about this number as well.
I do believe this individual is sending out emails to little home companies to obtain products. The email I received is requesting that I purchase a order for $500 in products, that I sell, and they will send me a check to my home address. No PO box! Or they will transfer money to my account, not that I am stupid enough to give that information out. However, I do believe this is a scam.
Called me at 6:30 a.m. telling me they had a package for me....that my "associate" Kelly Ellis left my phone # as a back-up. I've never known anyone in my life with the name "Kelly". I'm a retired grandmother and I certainly don't order packages from Gualala, CA
I'm the same guy as the above comment. They called me again. I explained it very slowly this time that my number is registered and that I don't want to be called again. Only time will tell...
Received a text to buy a vehicle I was selling on craigslist. This NY number wanted to pay via paypal without ever seeing the car in OH. Very suspicious. Never texted back after I requested cash in person.
I received a call from Gallup and he asked my name which he already knew and he also asked me if I made a deposit in my bank which he knew where I banked. I told him no and he hung up. I am preparing to call the police or write them a letter. I am far away from Omaha and I don't know how he got my name and bank. But I will take care of this matter quick.
Just received a telemarketing call from this number. The automated message starts out with something like "The FBI reports that they're are" and goes on to talk about crime.
This wasn't a prank call per say but a person who has been prank texting me saying that I gave him my number. I have never been to MS. I have mentioned many times that I do not know this person but they keep insisting that I do and will not stop texting me. This person says his name is Nick and that he has met me in either a social chat room or an app. This is not the case as I do not use any of these and/or chat with random people I do now know. Since telling this person many times I do not know them, their texts have kept coming and now are using profanities. I have asked them numerous times to stop texting me. My next step will be to press formal harassment charges if need be.
